ADHD , learning difficulties and concentration
Neurodevelopmental disorders are becoming increasingly common among school-age children. It is estimated that about 5% of British school children suffer from developmental coordination disorder (DCD), while 1-2% suffer from attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder syndrome (ADHD). In the United States the prevalence of ADHD is estimated at 4%.It is well established that the main components of fish oil, EPA and DHA may be benificial in helping children with learning difficulties and concentration issues. There is also substantial evidence that children with ADHD tend to be deficient in EPA and DHA.*1
Asthma
Childhood asthma is now a major health problem. Australian researchers now suggest that the epidemic of childhood asthma is associated with a change in the omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acid ratio in the Australian diet. Paradox Omega School provides the correct balance of Omega fatty acids to redress the imbalance now endemic in Western diets.*2
Childhood obesity and diabetes
Obesity is a growing problem among adolescents and is often accompanied by metabolic syndrome (MS). Metabolic syndrome involves a cluster of several metabolic abnormalities including weight gain, insulin resistance, high triglycerides and low HDL (high-density lipoprotein) levels, and is associated with an increased risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. US research concludes that a diet providing, a high intake of long-chain PUFAs may protect against the development of metabolic syndrome.*3
